What are the benefits of homeschooling?
There are so many benefits of homeschooling! I can’t possibly list them all, but here is my list of benefits that I have experienced in my 5 years of homeschooling.
Time
- more time to spend outside & explore nature
- less time sitting, as a result, living a more active life
- free time to play together & be creative
- available hours to spend reading out loud to your children
- more time to help your children develop talents or special interests
- more quality family time
Flexibility
- flexibility in your schedule
- endless field trip opportunities
- can take family vacations anytime of the year
- having the option to sleep in when everyone got to bed late
- freedom to do school & learn anywhere you want, for instance, outside or on the road
- not feeling rushed in the mornings & evenings
Life Skills
- teaching your children how to manage their time & develop organizational skills
- opportunities to teach your children the wide range of household skills
- daily character development, as a result, daily growth in your children
- ability to work through big emotions as they happen
- important conversations about anything can happen anytime
- helping your children develop a love of learning so they will grow into adults who love to learn
Relationships
- involvement in the community, for instance, serving in some way
- builds strong communication skills not only with other children, but with adults, too
- building friendships with other homeschooling families
- more opportunities to share your faith with your children
- fosters a strong family bond
- you get a front row seat to their amazing life
Academics
- re-learning things yourself as you teach, which is so fun
- opportunities to focus more heavily on subjects that interest your children
- choosing curriculum that fits best for your family needs
- ability to meet your children where they are, but without having to feel behind
- opportunities to add in enrichment studies, such as, art, poetry & music
- teaching & learning can be efficient, rich & meaningful
